ORCHESTRA OF SPHERES – FINGERWEG NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO!!

Cosmic sound explorers, Orchestra of Spheres, are releasing a new single, Fingerweg alongside a brand new music video!

Released on 7” vinyl by the Italian label Outside Inside Records and as a digital download on Sound Explorers, Fingerweg is a surrealist pop oddity with a nervous post-punk groove, swirling guitars, glistening synths and Dadaist rap.

The Spheres collaborated with installation artist Brydee Rood and videographer Will Sklenars to create a video for the single. Shot on location on Wellington’s south coast and at the band’s new HQ, The Pyramid Club, the video features Rood’s trademark plastic bag constructions, with the band appearing as ‘gold creatures’ born out of the oceans’ mysterious depths.

The band say that making the NZ on Air funded video “was a brilliant opportunity to work with Will and Brydee. Brydee’s installation work is part abstract art, part environmental activism and she brought a bit of both to the video. Fingerweg means “hands off!” in German, so the plastic-bag headed gold creatures emerging from the sea are like strange harbingers, a kind of cryptic comment on the deep sea oil exploration being carried out in NZ waters.”

The B-Side , Lost Days gets into a more blissed-out zone via Mos Iocos’s ornithological keyboard sounds, Baba Rossa’s serpentine guitar lines and the engine-room grooves of drummer Jemi Hemi Mandala and bass carillon player EtonalE.

Both tracks were recorded in September 2012, at Outside Inside Studio by Mojo Matt Bordin, during the session for the Spheres’ second LP Vibration Animal Sex Brain Music.
